First day in Krakow

Friday, July 3, 2009
Our first day has been great. We got off the plane, got all of our luggage (Thank God!) and took buses to our hotel, Hotel Saski, in "old downtown". The streets are tiny but they are covered in beautiful buildings with restaurants, hotels and shops. The feel of old downtown is amazing with its cobble stone streets and Baroque architecture. Everything is within walking distance and as you stroll downtown you can catch musicians and other entertainment such as fire breathers and dancers as they try to make a few extra zlotys (pronounced zul-tees in Southern English). As soon as we got into town we took a tour to see the cathederals, the clock tower and the castle downtown along with other locations like the place Tom proposed to Beata. But the night was not all play, as we had to meet for our orientation and get organized before the groups split up on Saturday to go to their different locations.
